Reasons why you should watch “The Strain”

Hey guys!

As announced before, here are the reasons why you should watch the new TV series “The Strain”, an American vampire horror-drama television series that premiered on FX on the 13th of July in 2014 and was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It airs every Sunday and productions for a second seasons have already been set to begin in November 2014.

This is roughly what you’ve got to expect: monsters. not exactly handsome and absolutely terrifying.

1. This is not your typical vampire series.

We’ve endured the sparkling, handsome vampires with their ridiculously romantic relationships to human beings in Vampire Diaries, the Twilight saga, True Blood and Being Human but there are still many more to come and I don’t think I can’t take them anymore. However, these vampires are completely different of what you’ve thought till now to be vampires (in the case you’ve grown up with the belief Edward Cullen to be ultimate vampire). They are evil, downright scaring and nerve-wracking. Quite literally.

David Bradley as Professor Abraham Setrakian.

2. There are some super great actors.

Just to mention: David Bradley, Corey Stroll, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Richard Sammel. To be honest, I don’t know all of them. Heck, these were some reasons made by The Community. However, David Bradley is one of my absolute favorite actors. He appeared in the Harry Potter movies, the Game of Thrones series and now he’s here – in The Strains. I can absolutely assure you that you’re totally gonna love him. Richard Sammel is a german actor and I can’t believe that his skills were that great. Seriously, you ought to watch the series.

Spoiler alarm!

3. There are some reasonable and horrifyingly realistic approaches.

The most horrible thing about the series is the scientific approach. If there were to be some super vampires with unbelievable powers, that would be interesting to immerse yourself in but still laughable. However, as soon as it starts being realistic in the minutest details, you’re going to get really scared because there’s the chance that it might be true. Even if people laugh at it and make jokes, aren’t there also many things in our world that can’t be explained nor proven but exist nonetheless?

4. Created by Carlton Cuse and Guillermo del Toro.

I’ve never watched the series Lost but people keep bragging about its awesomeness and eventually, even I am going to watch it, I think. Back to topic: I don’t know what kind of magicians these two are but they’ve made a great job creating this series. I couldn’t have constructed it better. Particularly the horror scenes – goosebumps!

Well then, wanna give it a try? Tell me your thoughts on The Strains!

Have fun,

    1. Nununu, give it a try! It sure has some horror aspects but they’re quite moderate compared to the Resident Evil series. Furthermore, fortunately there are no eyeballs included in the actual series. It’s just an advertisement. I understand if you wouldn’t want to watch it but don’t judge a book by its cover. At least take a glimpse on it (watch an actual episode). :)

    1. Thanks for the response ! I’ve inserted the video as I believe it to be interesting and catching. I also belong to the kind of people to first watch the trailer before reading through the actual plot as the style and the art cannot be conveyed through a mere summary of the story. Anyway, I’ve already thought of including a recap series of The Strain but eventually decided myself against it as it would turn the blog into a horror section which it is not supposed to be. I’m deeply in love with horror movies and if you’re as well, I may recommend the series Salem to you. If you’re into recaps, give the community a try. I’ve already included a link of them in the “2. There are some super great actors.”-part.
